is committed to making this site usable by every visitor — including people with visual, hearing, motor or cognitive disabilities, and those who browse with assistive technology.

The standard we work to

The site is built to follow the WCAG 2.1 AA recommendations and the requirements of the Israeli standard IS 5568 and the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Accessibility of Service) Regulations, 2013. We apply these requirements when building new pages and when updating existing ones.

What is supported today

• Full keyboard navigation, with a visible focus ring on every interactive element.
• A "Skip to content" link at the top of every page for keyboard and screen-reader users.
• Correct heading hierarchy and page landmarks (header, main, footer, navigation).
• Accessible names on icon buttons, the language switcher and the image-viewer controls.
• The full-screen work viewer is a proper dialog: focus is held inside it, Esc closes it, ← → or a swipe moves between works, and focus returns to the originating work on close.
• Touch targets of at least 44×44 pixels on mobile.
• Full right-to-left support for Hebrew, with document language and direction set automatically.
• Switching between Russian, English and Hebrew while staying on the current page.
• The operating-system "reduce motion" preference is respected: animation and image zoom are switched off.
• Body and secondary text meet AA contrast.
• Images are never cropped or distorted, and no page scrolls horizontally at any screen width.

Known limitations

We are candid about where the site does not yet fully meet our goal, and are working on it:

• A caption is an optional field. For works without one, assistive technology announces only "Enlarge", with no description of the image. Descriptions are added as the site is filled in.
• Descriptive alternative text for the images themselves — text describing what a work depicts — is still being prepared.

Compatibility

The site is designed for the last two versions of the major browsers (Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox) and for common assistive technologies: NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver and TalkBack.
